Translation commands

Visio

Category: Translation

Just like any drawings, Visio drawings often contain a lot of repetitive information. An organisation chart, an engineering drawing or simply an updated version of a Visio drawing – they all contain repetitions or text that you translated before. TransTools for Visio's translation commands offer you a new workflow for working with Visio drawings.

How it works?

TransTools for Visio contains two special commands: Extract Translatable Text and Translate Using Translation Table. The first command extracts the text of each individual shape present in a Visio drawing, and provides a translation table in Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel format for you to translate. The second command uses the final translation table to overwrite the text in the drawing, providing you with a translated version of the drawing.

Translation commands work especially well when combined with CAT software.

Commands overview

Command Description Usage
Extract Translatable Text Extracts all unique text from Visio drawings and outputs them as a Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel table for translation. Create a translation table containing the text of all text from a drawing. Translate it manually or using CAT tools. This final translation table may be used to quickly translate this or similar drawings using Translate Using Translation Table command.
Translate Using Translation Table Uses a translation table to merge translated text into a drawing (selected sheets). Translate drawings using the translation table. Get a huge speed improvement compared to traditional techniques.
