Visio

Current version of TransTools for Visio: 2.0.2.

Release details Summary

Program Version: 2.0.2

Release date: 29/10/2016

Release package: TransTools package v. 3.13

  • Text from some grouped objects (e.g., connectors from some stencils) was not extracted. This is now fixed.
  • Stencil documents (VSSX extension) were erroneously listed by Extract Translatable Text and Translate Using Translation Table tools in Visio 2013 and newer versions. This is now fixed.

Program Version: 2.0.1

Release date: 04/06/2016

Release package: TransTools package v. 3.11.1

  • Minor bug fix in the text extraction command (an error occurred if tw4winInternal style already existed in the default Word template).

Program Version: 2.0

Release date: 21/05/2016

Release package: TransTools package v. 3.11

  • Added ability to translate text in Gantt charts and other complex Visio drawings.
  • Added ability to process fields (such as page number, total pages, etc.). Fields are represented by “<field/>” text. In generated translation tables in Word format, these are marked with tw4winInternal style or hidden font attribute (depending on the target CAT tool) in order to turn them into tags in CAT tools. For translation tables in Excel format, <field/> codes are marked using a special color.
  • To merge translations into drawing(s), you now need to select the final translation table in Word or Excel format from a file instead of using the clipboard. This provides a number of benefits because there is no need to use special tags like <para/> or <br/> in order to handle paragraph and line breaks in the extracted text.
  • Extract Translatable Text command now contains the following new features:
    • Added a new option in Extract Translatable Text command: “Prepare for CAT tool”. You can choose from a variety of common CAT tools. Depending on the CAT tool, the translation table will be prepared differently, either using tw4winExternal and tw4winInternal styles, or using hidden font formatting, in order to hide non-translatable text and formatting markers. This option works for translation tables in Microsoft Word format only.
    • Added a new option in Extract Translatable Text command: “Export all text for calculating statistics”. This option is useful if you need to export all text, including repetitions, in order to calculate the amount of translatable text to charge your clients. Note that this new option does not affect the behavior of Translate Using Translation Table command: just as before, it will translate all repetitions of the same phrase in the same way, using the first occurrence of the repeating entry from the translation table.
    • Added a new option in Extract Translatable Text command: “Extract text only”. When this option is activated, the tool does not extract simple numbers like “200” or “200.2”.
    • Added a new option in Extract Translatable Text command: “Automatically save generated table in drawing’s folder”. When this option is activated, TransTools will automatically save the generated translation table in the same folder and under the same filename as the processed drawing.
    • If you extract text from several drawings, translatable text will be grouped by drawing file. Note that, if your drawings contain cross-file repetitions, cross-file repetitions will not be repeated for each individual drawing and will only appear under the first drawing where they occur. You can avoid this by checking “Export all text for calculating statistics” option.
  • Translate Using Translation Table command now works differently. To specify the translation table, you now need to select the final translation table file in Word or Excel format.
  • Further development of TransTools for Visio now continues as part of TransTools Professional Edition. If you wish to use the free version of TransTools for Visio (version 1.2.3 released on September 1, 2015, which has limited functionality), you can download it from TransTools Download page.

Program Version: 1.2.3

Release date: 01/09/2015

Release package: TransTools package v. 3.8

  • Updated the About dialogue: it is now possible to check for a new version from the dialogue.

Program Version: 1.2.2

Release date: 04/08/2014

Release package: TransTools package v. 3.1.1

  • Renamed the Translation commands. The new names are Extract Translatable Text (to extract text from shapes on a drawing) and Translate Using Translation Table (to replace original text with the new text from the translation table). Made some changes in wording to reflect the new terminology (“translationt table” is now used instead of “replacement list”).

Program Version: 1.2.1

Release date: 23/04/2011

Release package: TransTools package v. 1.5

Program Version: 1.2.0

Release date: 20/02/2011

Release package: TransTools package v. 1.4.0

  • Improved the user interface of all commands;
  • Extract Translatable Text now exports the translation table in either Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel formats. Translation tables in Microsoft Word format support 'DO_NOT_TRANSLATE' style for special formatting symbols to facilitate translation using CAT software. The translation table format can be configured.

Program Version: 1.1.0

Release date: 21/11/2010

Release package: TransTools package v. 1.3.0

  • 64-bit support is added so you can now use the add-in under 64-bit Visio 2010 [kudos to Dominique Pivard for picking this up].

Program Version: 1.0.0
